A native of Gary, Indiana, Jon Evan’s introduction to the music business came in 1982 when he studied recording engineering at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City. His first industry job was as a “gopher” at the Platinum Factory, a Brooklyn, NY based recording studio. Platinum was the training ground where theory was put into practice, and the necessary industry skills were developed and honed. The importance of understanding the business side of the industry is something that was always stressed, and continues to be a basic tenet for survival and growth in this industry.
Currently the owner of Jonwerx Recording Services, Jon works as a mixing engineer, songwriter/producer, and also consults in the design and construction of home and project recording studios. With experience in a wide variety of musical genres, he has recorded and mixed for such artists as Strafe (Set It Off), Max Roach, Abbey Lincoln, The Mighty Sparrow, Arrow, Kelli Sae, Nadira Norjahan, Courtney Fadlin, Lou Reach/ Soul Vida Productions, and Jrome Andre.
Jon has engineered/mixed several of Nadira Norjahan's works including the compilation project The Sweet Heat Series.
